Under Louisiana law an individual is required to take pre-licensing courses prior to scheduling and sitting for an examination for a producer license for certain lines of insurance. The candidate must sit for and pass the examination within one year of completion of the pre-licensing course.
The minimum prelicensing education requirements depend on the type of insurance producer license. The minimum requirements are:
- Life only 20 hours
- Health and accident only 20 hours
- Life, health and accident 40 hours
- Property only 20 hours
- Casualty only 20 hours
- Property and casualty 40 hours
- Personal lines 20 hours
- Title 20 hours
- Bail bonds 8 hours
This course qualifies for the 20 hours of pre-license title insurance credit in Louisiana required in order to sit for the title insurance examination.
